Privacy Policy

The following data is stored locally on your phone and is never uploaded to our servers: your technique library and cards, personal notes, belt rank and stripes, display name and profile photo, training log, streak, XP, badges, quiz results, and app preferences (language, reminders).

Deleting the app permanently deletes all of this data. We have no copy and no way to recover it.

When you generate a technique card, the following is sent to our backend and processed:

The video link you paste(YouTube, TikTok or Instagram) — used to fetch the video's public metadata, transcript or audio, and to cut short muted clips of key moments.

What we cache: the generated card, quiz and clips are cached on our servers, keyed by the video — never by you. We do not store your identity, device identifiers, IP-linked profiles, or a history of who requested which video. The cache exists so the same video is faster and cheaper for everyone.

Retention: cached cards and quizzes are kept while the service operates so repeat requests stay instant. Cached video clips are automatically deleted after 60 days. You can request removal of any cached content at any time by emailing us (see section 8).

Cards and quizzes are generated by an AI model (Google Gemini) from the video's real transcript or audio. The transcript/audio of the video you submit is sent to Google's Gemini API for processing and is subject to Google's API terms. No personal data about you is included in these requests. AI output may contain mistakes — always cross-check techniques with a qualified coach.

We use a small number of infrastructure providers, each receiving only what is strictly needed:

· Google Gemini (AI processing of video transcripts/audio)
· Railway (backend hosting)
· Supabase (cache and clip storage)
· Apple App Store / Google Play (payments — see section 5)

These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments. We do not sell or share your data with anyone for advertising or marketing.

Subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple's App Store or Google Play using their in-app purchase systems. We never see or store your name, card details or billing address. Purchase receipts are validated through the stores' standard mechanisms to unlock Pro features. You can manage or cancel your subscription anytime in your App Store / Google Play account settings.

No user accounts. No ads. No sale of data. No cross-app tracking. No analytics SDKs profiling you. No access to your contacts, location, camera or microphone (the photo library is accessed only if you choose to set a profile picture, and the photo never leaves your device). Notifications are generated locally on your device and can be turned off in Settings.

BJJ Memo is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly process data from them.

Because your personal data stays on your device, most rights are exercised directly: delete the app to erase everything. For the video-keyed server cache (which contains no personal data), you can still ask us to delete specific cached content — for example a video you own. Email support.bjj@gmail.com and we will action requests within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

All traffic between the app, our backend and our providers is encrypted (HTTPS/TLS). Server access is restricted by scoped credentials. No system is perfectly secure, but our local-first design means the most sensitive data — your training history and notes — never leaves your phone in the first place.

If we change this policy, we will update this page and the "last updated" date above. Material changes (for example, if accounts or analytics are ever introduced) will be announced in the app before they apply.
